Short vs YouTube video: what Clipini controls (and what YouTube decides)

When you share a Clipini clip to YouTube, the Share modal offers Short or standard video. That choice affects the link and a title hint — but YouTube still classifies the upload by aspect ratio and duration.

What YouTube decides on its own
There is no API flag like “force Short” or “force long-form”. YouTube mainly looks at the uploaded file.
9:16 + short duration (about ≤ 60 seconds, sometimes up to ~3 minutes depending on account/region) → often a Short.
16:9 and/or longer than ~60 seconds → standard video (watch page).
After upload, processing can take a few minutes: black frame with audio, then playback and a possible Short badge. That is not a Clipini bug.
Short / Video choice in Share
In Share, when a YouTube destination is checked, Clipini shows Short or standard video.

For 16:9 and over 60 seconds, picking Video + watch link is enough in practice: YouTube already treats it as long-form.
Important limit
A ~32s 9:16 clip often stays a Short even if you pick standard video: YouTube wins on classification.
Conversely, a long 16:9 will not become a Short just because you picked Short: ratio and duration dominate.
Use Clipini’s choice for the link and editorial intent; also match the file (vertical short vs landscape long) for predictable results.
How to do it in Clipini

Why is my Short black at first?
YouTube processes the upload for a few minutes. Audio may arrive before video. Refresh Studio or the link after processing.
Can I force long-form on a 30s 9:16 clip?
Not reliably. YouTube will often classify it as a Short. Prefer 16:9 and/or > ~60s for classic video.
Does Short always add #Shorts?
Yes, if the title does not already include it. It is a hint for YouTube, not a guarantee.
